Spiritual Care Specialist Training

A program of ACPE: The Standard for Spiritual Care and Education (ACPE.EDU) in partnership with Spiritual Care Partners (Spiritualcarepartners.com) and the New England Pastoral Institute.

The world is facing crises with respect to addiction, mental health, trauma, and violence. People practicing in care ministries, whether professional or volunteer, often find themselves on the frontlines of responding to these issues. Have you ever found yourself at a loss as to how to provide meaningful and effective spiritual care to someone, after they shared a struggle with you that was beyond your knowledge and experience? Spiritual Care Specialist Training Program supports people working in all manner of caring ministries to address the full scope of challenges that people bring to their spiritual caregivers more effectively, ethically, and safely.

This is a 48 hour immersive online course that includes didactic presentations, dynamic small group exercises, and consultations on direct care, taught by licensed mental health professionals. The only prerequisite for participants is that they are actively engaged in a ministry of care. The class adopts an ecumenical and interfaith perspective so is open to all. Outside-of-class work is limited to two or three brief projects that are designed to be shared with the group. The class running through SCP and NEPI will run on Fridays from 1pm-4pm EST via Zoom, starting on September 13th, and, with time off for holidays, ending the last Friday in January. The cost is $600.
